Mentors are dragonriders not affiliated directly with the weyrling core that volunteer extra insight and advice ICly and OOCly. They can be any age, rank, gender, and can ride any color dragon. It isn't as professional a bond between weyrling and instructor, more down to a personal, friend relationship. They supplement the Weyrlingmasters by adding their own unique experience and greater one-on-one time with the young riders.

If there's someone you'd strongly rather not be paired with you can specify. ICly the assignment is mostly random with some thought put into the compatibility of the weyrling and senior rider.
